The three most difficult words for anyone to say is; “I need help”. Pride, fear, shame and a host of other insecurities are barriers for asking help of others.

There are times when the telephone might seem as if it weighs 500 pounds, and there’s just no way to pick it up to ask for help.

I believe that most people are glad to help when someone is really in need. The old adage is true though, the best way to help yourself is to help others. By not asking for help, not only does one not get what they need or want, but they deny others of what they get out of helping someone.

“If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” You took it a step farther and said “If you don’t try, you never will succeed!” Great reminder to all of us that sometimes we have to stick our neck out, ask for help, etc. in order to take that first step to possible success.
Thanks Glenn! And keep up the good work!

Glenn, you are dead on target with this week’s column. The worst anyone can say is “no” even when making cold calls. This was my first newsletter as I just joined, and I appreciate your advice. As I always have said, “You know…people don’t care what you know, until they know that you care.” – Don McKinley.
    Thanks again, and God Bless!

I learned this theory years ago in college. I had the opportunity to go see a World Series game and didn’t do it b/c I was scheduled to give a speech in my speech class the day of the game. I went to class and we ran out of time so I didn’t even get to give my speech. I mentioned the game to my professor and he said all you had to do was ask me & I’d have rescheduled your speech. AAAGGGGHHHH!!!! From that moment on, I have ALWAYS asked. If I get no, I’m not worse off, but I ALWAYS ask. 🙂
