I CALL IT THE LAZY, NO-RESPONSIBILITY, CARE-LESS GENERATION. I’M FROM THE “OLD SCHOOL” WHEN YOU HAD TO WORK TO GET A PAYCHECK.

Regarding the q&A- in this week’s newsletter. You will need to talk to a labor attorney, however, in our employee manual we state that not showing up for work without proper notice (and that is defined as phone conversation – not text or voicemail) is assumed to be abandonment and quitting without proper 2 week notice.

We had that reviewed by an attorney (I am paraphrasing, and we are in IL, which I know this will differ by state) and I don’t know that we specifically asked if this covers attempted suicide. Fwiw

I know that what you are saying is true. I teach a 5-day flight attendant preparation class and I had a young man bring “Grandma” to the hotel with him, to sit while he was in class. When he started talking about taking “Grandma” to the airline interview with him, I put on the brakes and warned him about doing that. If the airline knew his grandmother was there, he would not be considered for employment! (Was he planning on taking her on his trips with him every day???)

Just thought you’d like to know….

YIKES! Makes me step back and take a look at my own “helicopter Mom” style! I have a 21 year old who tells me, “Mom, you don’t need to tell me what to do.” Thank goodness for an independent minded son!!
